research
Michael Hell’s lifelong fascination with historically-informed performance practice began already in his youth. His research focus now lies especially in the stylistically differentiated approach to various ornamentation and basso continuo styles.
He also works intensely with questions related to instrument posture, solmization, pitch, and tempo. It is essential to him that musicological knowledge of historical performance techniques does not remain merely as a scholarly experiment, but is put into practice, becoming an invigorating and continuously developing aspect of a lived performance practice.
